  • If you have not already done so, please mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 12, 2022 for an important event that CRMA is hosting that will have an impact on your business for the next four years.
  • CRMA is proud to be hosting a breakfast meeting with both Governor Ned Lamont and his Republican opponent Bob Stefanowski.
  • The event begins with registration at 9:00 am followed by a buffet breakfast spread provided by the Max Downtown restaurant group.
  • We will begin the event by having Mr. Stefanowski speaking to us – and answering any questions that you might have – from 10:00am to 10:30am followed by Governor Lamont from 10:30am to 11:00am.
  • We will be also making an important announcement about the CRMA following the conversation with the candidates. We expect the festivities to conclude by 11:30am.
  • We really hope you can join us this really important event. This a great opportunity for the retail industry to be front and center with the person who will be the Governor of the State for the next 4 years.

  • With the legislature out of regular session until January, and with all members and statewide office holders up for election in November, we thought it would be good idea to keep you updated on what is happening on the campaign trail.
  • The polling organization fivethirtyeight released a number of polls this week that should be good news for Governor Lamont, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal along with US Congress members Johana Hayes and Joe Courtney.

  • Bob Stefanowski dove into the affordable housing issue in CT this week. You can go here to read about that.
  • This week, a scheduled debate between the two candidates running for Sec. of the State had to be canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances” for Republican candidate Dominic Rapini. The Stamford Advocate  has more detail on that story.
  • National GOP Chair Rona McDaniel made a trip to CT this week to fire up the troops and to raise some dollars. The CT mirror has that story here.

  • Connecticut continued to add jobs in the month of August – 2,900 – but the pace of growth slowed while the unemployment rate rose. New Haven BIZ has the numbers here.
  • Bed Bath & Beyond included Stamford and Waterford stores among some 150 slated for closure nationwide. CT Post has the news here.
  • State Street in New Haven would be put on a “road diet” and transformed, with a large portion made safe for cyclists and land freed up for green space and development, according to plans now being considered. The New Haven Register has the story here.
  • Former UConn men’s basketball coach Kevin Ollie has been awarded $3.9 million from UConn and the State of Connecticut for “reputational harm and attorney’s fees” stemming from his March, 2018 firing. CT Insider has the details here.
  • A top-to-bottom study of East Hartford’s Rentschler Field — home to the University of Connecticut’s football team — recommends $63 million in improvements to ensure the venue keeps up with evolving Division I standards. The Hartford Courant reports on the study here.
