- As the summer winds down, we don’t want you to forget that in the fall the CRMA’s big event will be held.
- Mark you calendar today for October 16th for the CRMA Annual Awards Luncheon. The event will be held once again in Hartford at the Bushnell Theater’s Autorino Great Room.
- Prior to lunch, beginning at 10:00 will hold a panel session on topics that will have impact on your business. We are finalizing just exactly how that panel will look, but understand that it will be of great benefit to you and your business.
- After that morning panel, we will begin our awards ceremony.
- This year we are excited to announce that Governor Ned Lamont will be our keynote speaker.
- Our plan is to have the Governor address us prior to our awards presentation, so you don’t want to miss that.

- We are still accepting nominations for our Retailer of the Year award.
- The Retailer of the Year award is the highest honor that CRMA can give to any retailer in CT and we have a long list of distinguished winners in previous years. CRMA strongly believes that some of the best retailers in country are located here in CT and it is our responsibility to recognized and honor those retailers.

News and Notes from the State Capitol
- Summertime is usually a quiet time for the General Assembly and this year is not different.
- While there are some task forces and study groups that are getting organized; for the most part members are back in their home districts and or jobs and are awaiting notice from their leadership if a special session will be called.
- On Tuesday of this week, the Transportation Committee held an informational forum on the growing controversy at the CT Port Authority.

- Retailers can learn from returns, Returnly CEO says
- A “clicks-to-bricks” option that lets online shoppers return purchases in stores is one way retailers can hold their own against Amazon, writes Returnly founder and CEO Eduardo Vilar. Companies should also “[l]ook at return reasons to improve merchandising decisions, product descriptions and marketing campaigns,” he writes.Forbes (8/20)
- Starship to deploy delivery robots to 100 campuses
- Startup Starship Technologies has recently gained $40 million during a funding round, and plans to roll out about 5,000 of its food and grocery delivery robots to 100 college campuses in the next 24 months. Robots launched first on the campuses of Northern Arizona University and George Mason University, and are set to debut at Purdue University and the University of Pittsburgh next month.The Verge (8/20), CNET (8/20)
